The Weekend Club · Ages 6–11

Away from screens. Into nature. Back to their warrior spirit.

A weekly club of free play outdoors. Children work out friendships, fallings-out and their own courage, with a team who help when something comes up and step back when nothing does.

The Warrior's Path

Here, a warrior is simply one who is brave.

Warriorship has nothing to do with making war on others. Aggression is the source of our problems, not the solution.

What we teach doesn't belong to any one culture or religion. It's a tradition of human bravery that has turned up in many places, at many times, throughout history.

In Irish

Croílaoch

“Heart warrior.”

The bravery we mean lives in how a person treats others and themselves: being honest, respectful and patient. It belongs to everyday life, not a battlefield.

How it works

Free play, every week, like childhood used to have.

Free play used to happen naturally. Today a lot of children miss out on it. Meeting every week gives it back to them.

When children play freely together, real life turns up: friendships, rivalries, being left out, taking the lead. Those moments can hold a child back or help them grow. We're there to help them grow.

  1. Working with the mind

Helping children notice what they're telling themselves, question it, and turn it into something more useful.

  2. Naming feelings

Helping children say what they feel, see that it's normal, and stay with it, while showing them other ways to handle it when it's hard.

  3. The Code of the Warrior

Bravery practised as honesty, respect, honour, and patience with others and with themselves.

And when nothing comes up

We don't step in. Children are left to find their own way.

What we ask of parents

No phones.
No smartwatches.

It's the one condition of joining: no phone, watch or any other device that can record or reach the outside world.

  • The same honesty we ask of children

We take responsibility for our words and actions, and ask the same of you. Children learn most from what they see the grown-ups around them do.

  • Helping them grow beyond themselves

Encourage your child to be kinder and more open to other ways of seeing the world. In doing that, they become kinder to themselves too.

  • An open heart and mind

We're always learning too. We'd ask everyone, grown-ups included, to stay open and keep growing.
